'Land of Soap and Glory’
Jessica Sainsbury and Peter Frankopan are the couple behind Green & Spring, a new collection of natural, handmade bath and body products inspired by the British countryside. The couple set up A Curious Group of Hotels, which includes Cowley Manor and it’s C.Side Spa in the Cotswolds. The collection is available exclusively at Liberty and at www.greenandspring.com.
Why did you decide to launch your own bath and body collection?
When we designed and set up Cowley Manor and C.Side Spa, we developed our own range of products for use in our bespoke treatments and in the hotel bedrooms. We then wanted to expand this idea and spent a few years refining our ideas and working on the different ranges.
What is the concept?
We wanted to celebrate the beauty of the British countryside – we’ve used different British birds on the outside of each of our products and the ingredients are native to the British Isles and produced in Somerset.
Where did you find the inspiration for this collection?
Green, grassy fields have inspired the Revitalising range – which has a fresh smell of dandelion, peppermint and fennel. Kitchen herb gardens, especially ours at Cowley Manor, have influenced the Relaxing range with rosemary and lavender. The Green & Spring Indulging range evokes that sensual smell of flowers – rose and jasmine.
How involved have you been in the development and design of the products?
We have been totally immersed from the very beginning and spent a huge amount of time getting things right, from the formulation to the smell, from the design to the packaging. We thought of the inspirations for the ranges, worked on the fragrances with a perfumer, and tested numerous samples before we approved the final selection.
Why did you choose Liberty?
Liberty was the perfect place to launch. We are both British and love design and beautiful things. One day we hope to be as iconic.
